Pastor Dorothy Melody Holmes

Dorothy Melody Holmes is a native of Wilson, North Carolina.  She attended Dillard High School in Goldsboro, North Carolina.  After graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. to seek employment.

Upon her arrival in D.C., she became an active member of Faith Temple No. 2 Original Freewill Baptist Church for 20 years.  Under the leadership of the eminent Bishop L.N. Forbes, the Lord saved, sanctified and filled her with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.  However, in 1986, the Lord led her to unite with Deliverance Church of Christ, under the leadership of Bishop Robert Patton.

She preached her confirmation sermon, Sunday, May 25, 1969.  The message was entitled "Try God," from Daniel 3:17.  She operates in the following spiritual gifts: preacher, prophet, discernment and teacher.  In order to gain more knowledge to facilitate the call on her life, Pastor Holmes received several certificates in the biblical studies through the Evangelical Training Association, located in Wheaton, Illinois.

Pastor Holmes served the church as President of the Prayer Band Ministry, Preacher of the Gospel and also as a choir member.  She was a member of the Prince George's Convalescent Home Ministry for many years.  She teaches the New Life Development Class.  Pastor Holmes is Director of the Women's Ministry.

On Saturday, April 24, 2004, she was consecrated to the Office of Executive Pastor of Deliverance Church of Christ in Seat Pleasant, Maryland.  In addition to her ministry work, Pastor Holmes was employed at the Department of Homeland Security for 37 years.  She retired on February 1, 2005.

She is an anointed woman of God, who preaches under the unction of the Holy Spirit.  Some of her power-packed messages include: "Restoration, Blessings to the Righteous, When Will God be Sufficient for You? Let God Arise in You!" and What is the Gospel"

Pastor Holmes is married and resides in Washington, D.C., with her husband Bishop Bobby G. Holmes.  They are the proud parents to two adult children, Derrick and Stephanie and a son-in-law, Lenwood Turner.  They are also proud grandparents as well.
